Jack Johnson Debuts at Number One on the Billboard Top 200

Jack Johnson’s latest album, Sleep Through the Static, debuts at number one on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, selling 375,000 copies. Of those copies, 139,000 units (or 37% of all units sold) were digital downloads; which is the biggest sales week for a digital set since Nielsen SoundScan starting tracking those sales.
Sheryl Crow debuts at number two with Detours; the album sold 92,000 copies. Alicia Keys’ As I Am falls two spots to number three, selling 80,000 copies (which is actually a 31% sales increase from last week).
Lenny Kravitz debuts at number four with It is Time for a Love Revolution, which sold 73,000 copies. The 2008 Grammy Nominees compilation album holds steady at number five, selling 52,000 units (this is a 3% sales increase).
The Juno soundtrack falls four spots to number six, selling 47,000 copies (which is a 14% sales decline from last week). Mary J. Blige’s Growing Pains falls one spot to number seven, selling 45,000 copies (which is a 6% sales decline).
k.d. Lang debuts at number eight with with Watershed, which sold 41,000 copies. Miley Cyrus’ Hannah Montana 2 soundtrack / Meet Miley Cyrus album rises a spot to number nine, selling 40,000 copies (which is a 13% sales increase from last week). Taylor Swift’s self-titled album falls one spot to number ten, selling 39,000 copies (which is an 8% sales increase).
This week’s sales are up 11% from last week (8.43 million units were sold). However, that total is down 14% from the same week last year.
