Mike Smith, the lead singer of the Dave Clark Five, has died of pneumonia at the age of 64. He died on February 28, just less than two weeks before the band is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Smith died in a hospital outside of London.
Smith wrote songs, as well as played keyboards for the Dave Clark Five. The band had a string of U.S. hits, inclusing: “Because,” “Glad All Over,” and “I Like it Like That.” The group broke up in 1970.
The Legendary Mike Smith has long ago earned his chance to be honored and remembered with both permanence and distinction.
This one’s for you Mike!

“Try Too Hard,” for me, still epitomizes the stompin”, rough and ready approach these guys had to rock music. May they (and Mr. Smith) never be forgotten.
