Ann Rabson, Co-Founder of Saffire_The Uppity Blues Women, Dead at 67

Ann Rabson, a co-founder of Saffire_The Uppity Blues Women, passed away on January 30, 2013 after a battle with cancer. She was 67 years old at the time of her passing.

Rabson formed Saffire_The Uppity Blues Women with Gaye Adegbalola and Andra Faye McIntosh. The trio disbanded in 2009 after performing together for 25 years.

Rabson was not only a barrelhouse blues pianist, she was also a songwriter and a guitarist. She recorde eight albums with Saffire_The Uppity Women and four solo albums. She also appeared on recordings by Pinetop Perkins and Ani DiFranco.

Rabson is survived by her husband, George Newman, as well as by a daughter and a granddaughter.
