About AeschTunes
AeschTunes is a blog dedicated to covering artists, bands, trends, and news in the music industry. The focus of AeschTunes is on music news; however, this blog tries very hard to avoid tabloid-type stories. Sometimes, non-news posts will be included (such as reviews, top ten lists, etc.); for the non-news posts, they will be labeled as “AeschTunes Extra.”
AeschTunes is maintained by freelance writer Lesley Aeschliman. Lesley graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1996 with a B.A. in Radio-Television (and she also had some experience in college radio). Lesley is also a former internet radio broadcaster. As a freelance writer, Lesley serves as the Anime editor at BellaOnline.com, maintains a manga blog called Lesley’s Musings… on Manga, has had work published in BlogCritics.org’s “Sixty Minute Manga” feature and at Yahoo! Voices, and is also part of the Vine Program (a program where Amazon.com invites reviewers to participate).
Hi I ran across your blog after doing a search on album figures. Can you tell me how you get access to weekly album sales figures? Thank you for your time
Similar request: My son is a music producer, mostly hop hop. He currently has beats on a number of CDs including Chris Browns’s Exclusive, Fantasia’s Fantasia, Beanie Sigel’s Solution and Ludacris’s Release Therapy. I see that you post current sales for the top cds every week. Is there a site I can go to, or sign up with, that will allow me to get “current week” and “total sales” figures for the cds on which his music appears?
The information I post for weekly album sales comes from Billboard.com, where they post an article about the top ten, as well as debuts elsewhere on the weekly chart.
The entity that compiles the sales information is Soundscan. From what I’ve been told, you would have to pay Soundscan about $26,000/year in order to access their information.
Outside of that, I have no idea where you could acquire that kind of information and not have to pay an arm and a leg for it.
Have a nice day !

I see that billboard has several youtube postings. And that they add up weekly sales, etc to come out with a number for singles, albums, etc. Which is more accurate. The billboard chart you put out weekly or the billboard music video’s rankings posted on youtube. And if yours is accurate. Will you please post the charts you get on youtube with music videos. thanks.
I’m afraid I’m not familiar with the YouTube postings that you’re referring to, so I can’t tell you if those postings are more accurate than mine.
What I can tell you is that I get my information directly from Billboard’s official website, http://www.billboard.com. They publish an article every Wednesday that details the sales, and I take the information Billboard provides in their article and write my own blog post each week. Unfortunately, I have no plans at this time to make YouTube videos with this information.
