Folk singer Pete Seeger will be performing at a New England Farm Relief Concert in Brattleboro, Vermont on September 13. The concert is being held to raise money for a new micro-loan program being developed by The Carrot Project and the organization that operates the town’s annual Strolling of the Heifers.
The Carrot Project is a nonprofit organization based out of Somerville, Massachusetts that makes loans and guarantees available for small farms and people who use environmentally friendly practices. The Strolling of the Heifers is an annual event in Brattleboro, where young cows decked out in flowers are paraded down Main Street as a way to celebrate Vermont’s agricultural tradition.
The 89-year-old Seeger is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and is known for such songs as “Where Have All the Flowers Gone,” “If I Had a Hammer,” and “Turn, Turn, Turn.”

Tone Loc is planning to perform at two bars in the Detroit area that were scammed by a man pretending to be Tone Loc’s manager. Tone Loc will perform April 11 at the Red Dog Saloon in Milford, and on April 12 at Bumpers in Westland.
Last summer, the owner of the Red Dog Saloon paid $400 to the con man, who claimed Tone Loc would perform at the bar. Authorities have said that Bumpers was siwndled out of $1,000. Unfortunately, the con man hasn’t been caught.
Both of the establishments contacted Tone Loc’s real manager, who says Tone Loc has offered to play these shows for his regular fee.

The peace concerts scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv and Jericho have been postponed. Threats have been made against Palestinians supporting the events, and there were security concerns in Jericho (which included threats to blow up the West Bank office of One Voice, the organization sponsoring the concerts). Bryan Adams was to headline the concerts.
The purpose of the concerts was to help collect a million signatures from Israelis and Palestinians calling for their leaders to negotiate a final peace settlement by October 2008.
No announcement has been made as to when the concerts may be rescheduled.
