The nominees for possible induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 have been announced. The nominees are: ABBA, The Chantels, Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, The Hollies, Kiss, L.L. Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Stooges, and Donna Summer.
Only five of the nominees will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the 25th annual induction ceremony that will take place on March 15, 2010 in New York City. The five inductees will be announced in December.
Donna Summer Signs Deal With Burgundy Records February 25, 2008

Donna Summer has signed a deal with Burgundy Records, and will be releasing her first studio album of all new material in seventeen years; her last album to feature completely new material was 1991’s Mistaken Identity.
Donna’s upcoming album, titled Crayons, is due to be released on May 20. For this album, Donna is working with Danielle Brisebois, Greg Kurstin, JR Rotem, Lester Mendez, and Evan Bogart.

Nominations for the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced. The nominees are: Afrika Bambaataa, Beastie Boys, Chic, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five, Madonna, John Mellencamp, Donna Summer and The Ventures.
To be eligible for a nomination, an artist or band must have released their first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination; to be eligible this year, an artist or band must have released their first single or album in 1982.
Of the nine nominees, five will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . The inductees will be announced in January, 2008, and the induction ceremony will take place on March 10, 2008.
Overall, I feel this is a good slate of nominees, and I’d be happy to see any of them inducted. But, as a fan of Depeche Mode and The Cure, I’m disappointed not to see either act on the list of nominees (since they are both eligible). Oh, well. Maybe next year…
