EMI has confirmed that it will cut up to 2,000 jobs worldwide in its Recorded Music division. These job cuts are part of a major restructuring of the company. Other changes include more of a focus on A&R and encouraging new revenue streams from digital services and corporate sponsorships. EMI also plans to bring together sales, marketing, manufacturing, and distribution into a single division; this new division will have a unified global leadership.
It is estimated that the changes will be implemented over a six month period.
