The soundtrack for Michael Jackson’s This Is It debuts at number one on theBillboard Top 200 album chart. The album sold 373,000 copies in its first week of release.

Creed’sFull Circle debuts at number two, selling 110,000 copies in its first week of release. Taylor Swift’s Fearless moves up four spots to number three, selling 109,000 copies (which is a 225% increase from last week).

Rod Stewart’s Soulbook debuts at number four, selling 84,000 copies in its first week of release. Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Night Castle debuts at number five, selling 83,000 copies in its first week of release.

Sting’s If On A Winter’s Night debuts at number six, selling 80,000 copies in its first week of release. Michael Buble’s Crazy Love falls four spots to number seven, selling 71,000 copies; this is a 30% decrease in sales from last week.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack falls seven spots to number eight, selling 69,000 copies (which is a 55% decrease in sales). Tim McGraw’s Southern Voice falls seven spots to number nine, selling 59,000 copies (which is a 57% decrease in sales). Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 falls six spots to number ten, selling 41,000 copies (however, this is only a 5% decrease in sales).

Michael Buble’s Crazy Love debuts at number one on the Billboard Top 200 chart. After only three days of sales, the album sold 132,000 copies.

Kiss’ Sonic Boom, a Wal-Mart exclusive album, debuts at number two, selling 108,000 copies in its first week of release. Toby Keith’s American Ride debuts at number three, selling 90,000 copies in its first week of release.

Barbra Streisand’s Love Is the Answer falls three spots to number four, selling 75,000 copies (which is a 58% sales decrease from last week). Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 moves up one spot to number five, selling 65,000 copies; however, this still represents a 27% decrease in sales.

Luke Bryan’s Doin’ My Thing debuts at number six, selling 58,000 copies in its first week of release. Mariah Carey’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel falls four spots to number seven, selling 54,000 copies (which is a 68% decline in sales from last week).

Backstreet Boys’ This Is Us debuts at number nine, selling 42,000 copies in its first week of release. Breaking Benjamin’s Dear Agony falls six places to number ten, selling 41,000 copies (which is a 69% decline in sales).

This week’s sales numbers (6.27 million units) are down 9% compared to last week, and down 2% compared to the same week last year.

After Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” made its debut online at the official Michael Jackson website, it was revealed that Paul Anka had helped to co-write the song almost thirty years ago. Not only has Anka received the proper songwriting credit, but he will also receive 50% of the song’s profits.

Originally, “This Is It” was titled “I Never Heard,” and it was co-written by Michael Jackson and Paul Anka back in 1983. The song, under the title “I Never Heard,” was recorded in the early 1990s by a singer named Sa-Fire.

“This Is It” is featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming Michael Jackson documentary with the same name/

Carly Simon is suing Starbucks Corp., blaming the company’s now-defunct music venture for not doing enough to promote the album she released for them in 2008. In her suit, Simon claims that since the company did not promote the album, that it was doomed before it was even released. She is seeking unspecified damages related to the release of the This Kind of Love album.

In the suit, Simon says the album was not available in “a substansial number” of Starbucks stores during the key early months of its release. Also, Simon claims that when the disc was later stocked in Starbucks locations, that the price was slashed. Simon also claims in the suit that the album’s performance was affected by a decision days before the album’s release for Starbucks to end its involvement in Hear Music.

In a statement, Starbucks says the company met all its contractual obligations, and even extended the amount of time the album was promoted in New York and Boston.

To date, This Kind of Love has only sold 124,000 copies.
