Bringing the AeschTunes Blog to an End

Now that I’ve been back in the workforce working part-time for a little over two months, I’ve come to realize that I don’t have the time to maintain both this blog and my anime and manga blog. I came to the conclusion that I need to discontinue writing this blog so I can place my focus on the anime and manga one, which has consistently had more visitors and content than this one has had.

Thank you to those readers who have followed the AeschTunes blog over the years, and I apologize for any inconvenience that my decision may cause.

Song Review: Lisa Stansfield – “This Is the Right Time”

“This Is the Right Time” was released as a single from Lisa Stansfield’s 1989 album, Affection. In the North America, it was released as the third single for the album, during the late summer of 1990.

I was 15 years old and just starting into the 10th grade when this single was released in North America. Lisa’s previous two singles didn’t grab me right away, and it took a little bit of time before I came to like them. But with “This Is the Right Time,” I fell in love with the song the first time I heard it. There was something about the musical arrangement that stood out from the previous two singles and appealed to me. When you compare “This Is the Right Time” to the other two singles from Affection, you can hear a major difference in the production and feel of the song. I think the lyrics to “This Is the Right Time” were also more relatable to me at the time. A little over 25 years later, and “This Is the Right Time” is my favorite Lisa Stansfield song, both from the Affection album and from her entire career.

My memories of the music video are rather hazy, though. Unfortunately, the only version I could find on YouTube was the UK version. While the North American version has been uploaded, it has been blocked from North American YouTube users. But I watched the UK video, and the main thing I got out of it by the end of it was one word: “blue.” There was a major emphasis on blue, to the point where there was a blue background and a bluish tint on all of the footage that appears in the video. It wasn’t a great video, but it worked for what the director was going for.

AeschTunes celebrates its 5th anniversary

It was five years ago today that the AeschTunes blog launched with its very first blog post, “AeschTunes Extra: Britney Spears: Did Her VMA Performance Help Or Hurt Her?”

Over the past five years, I have made 1,244 posts to this blog. During that time, the content on this blog has received 56,907 views. While these may not exactly be big numbers, I know I’ve seen growth for AeschTunes over the past five years.

It’s hard to believe how much has happened in the music industry over the past five years. Britney Spears went through her breakdown and triumphant return to the music scene, Adele and Justin Bieber achieved some major success, and music icons Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston passed away. There’s a lot more that’s happened over the past five years, of course, but those were some of the first things that popped into my head as I was writing this.

I’d like to thank everyone who has ever visited the AeschTunes over the past five years, and I hope you will continue to support the blog in the future. I hope to be able to make a post five years in the future to celebrate the blog’s 10th anniversary. And I hope you’re just as curious as I am as to where the music industry will be heading over the next five years…
